With Richmond being the capital of the confederacy this city is especially blessed with many historical museums and monuments that are a must see for people who enjoy history.  Even just a simple drive down Monument Ave. gives you the chance to view a lot of important history.  However, if you want to experience history in even more detail there are plenty of great exhibits to experience.  Here's a short list of some of the most popular ones.  

 

American Civil War Museum

The American Civil War Museum is an absolute must stop for the family.  With it's obvious concentration on Civil War history it's a great place to learn and enjoy more about one of the most important events in our country's history.  It also offers Summer programs for kids as well as educational exhibits and special programs suited for anyone. Jefferson Hotel

VA State Capitol
